Introduction
Welcome to Part 3 of our Star Atlas SAGE Labs XP Guide series! In the #StarAtlas #P2E metaverse, earning XP is key to progressing. This guide focuses on MINING XP, earned by extracting resources in Galia Expanse. I earned 140,077 MINING XP in a recent session—let’s explore how you can too, Onigiri-style!
1. What is MINING XP in SAGE Labs?
- Overview: MINING XP is earned by extracting resources (e.g., Iron Ore, Carbon) from asteroids in Galia Expanse using your fleet in SAGE Labs (https://aephia.com/star-atlas/sage-labs-a-guide/).
- Example: In my gameplay on STARBASED v3.1.124, I earned 140,077 MINING XP by mining resources with my fleet, ONIGIRIYA1, across sectors.
- Purpose: MINING XP contributes to your overall XP (e.g., my total of 713,628 XP), which can unlock rewards, ranks, or future benefits in the game.
2. How to Earn MINING XP
2.1 Mining Resources in Sectors
- Basics: Send your fleet to sectors in Galia Expanse to mine resources.
- Each sector (e.g., [-19, 9]) has different resources available (e.g., Iron Ore, Carbon).
- Mining speed depends on the sector’s “Richness” level (https://galiacrafters.medium.com/star-atlas-mining-101-introduction-to-the-concepts-5e5b7b7b7b7b).
- Richness 1: Normal mining rate.
- Richness 2: Double the mining rate (fills cargo hold in half the time).
- Process:
- Select your fleet (e.g., ONIGIRIYA1) in STARBASED.
- Move to a sector with resources (check sector details in the game).
- Start mining, earning MINING XP as resources are extracted.
2.2 Optimizing Cargo Capacity
- Cargo Hold:
- The amount of resources you can mine depends on your fleet’s total cargo capacity.
- Ships in a fleet share resources (fuel, ammo, food), so add up the cargo space of all ships (https://aephia.com/star-atlas/sage-labs-a-guide/).
- Strategy:
- Use ships with high cargo capacity (e.g., Rainbow Om in my fleet ONIGIRIYA1) to mine more resources per trip.
- Example: A fleet with 1,000 cargo units can mine until full, earning more MINING XP per session.
3. Strategies to Maximize MINING XP
Target High-Richness Sectors:
- Explore sectors with high Richness levels (e.g., MRZ-20 or MHZ-14 in the game map).
- Higher Richness means faster mining, so you’ll earn MINING XP more quickly.
- Updated Insight: High-Richness sectors (e.g., Richness 2 or 3) are typically farther from the CSS, such as sectors like [-50, 50] or [-40, 40]. Check the sector details in STARBASED to confirm the Richness level (e.g., “Richness: 2” means double the mining speed).
- Note: High-Richness sectors are farther from the CSS, requiring more fuel and time to reach, and may overlap with hostile areas.
Use Multiple Fleets:
- Operate multiple fleets to mine in different sectors simultaneously.
- Example: While ONIGIRIYA1 was en route to [-13, 17], I could have sent another fleet to MRZ-12.
Minimize Travel Costs:
- Use subwarp for nearby sectors to save fuel (no fuel cost).
- Reserve warp for long-distance sectors to quickly reach high-Richness areas.
Avoid Hostile Sectors:
- Stay away from hostile sectors (e.g., [-19, 9] marked as hostile) to prevent fleet loss.
- If your fleet is destroyed, respawn with ATLAS and resume mining.
Calculate Profit for Efficiency:
- Mining profit is the value of resources minus costs (fuel, time).
- Updated Insight: Mining Iron Ore yields 365 ATLAS profit per trip, while Carbon yields 172 ATLAS but takes half the time. In a Richness 2 sector, you can mine twice as fast, so Carbon might be more efficient for quick XP gains.
- Step-by-Step Guide:
- Open the STARBASED map in SAGE Labs (central grid showing sectors like [-19, 9], MRZ-20).
- Click or hover over a sector to view its details (e.g., Richness level, hostile status).
- Look for sectors with “Richness: 2” or higher for faster mining.
- Prioritize sectors farther from the CSS (e.g., [-50, 50]), as they are more likely to have high Richness.
- Tip: High-Richness sectors may be in hostile areas, so ensure your fleet is prepared for potential conflicts.
4. Onigiri’s Tips
- Efficient Mining: Use STARBASED’s map to find high-Richness sectors. Mine while enjoying an onigiri snack!
- Stay Safe: Avoid hostile sectors like [-19, 9] to keep your fleet intact.
- For Beginners: Start with nearby sectors (low Richness) to learn mining mechanics safely.
5. Conclusion
Earning MINING XP in Star Atlas SAGE Labs is all about strategic resource extraction in Galia Expanse. Stay tuned for Part 4, where we’ll cover CRAFTING XP! Have questions? Reach out on X at@OStaratlas19260. #StarAtlas #P2E
